Why Buffalo Pet Owners Drive to Evergreen Kennels in Batavia, NY

Published February 3rd, 2026 by Evergreen Kennels

Ask any Buffalo dog owner what they look for in a boarding facility, and you'll hear the same things every time: a clean environment, a trustworthy staff, enough space for their dog to move around, and the confidence that their pet is being treated with genuine care. That's a short list, but surprisingly few kennels in the Buffalo metro area check every box.

That's why more and more Buffalo-area pet owners have started making the 35-minute drive east on I-90 to Evergreen Kennels in Batavia, NY. Once they see the facility and meet the team, most of them never go back to settling for less.

What's Drawing Buffalo Pet Owners to Batavia

Thirty-five minutes is nothing when you have a dog you love. People drive farther than that for a good mechanic, a great doctor, or a reliable plumber. Finding a kennel you can actually trust is worth the same consideration.

Evergreen Kennels has built a reputation over 34 years as one of the finest pet care operations in Western New York. The Batavia location brings all of that experience and quality directly to the Buffalo side of the region. With easy access right off the Thruway, it fits into a normal day without adding stress or serious detour time.

The Facility Speaks for Itself

One visit to Evergreen Kennels in Batavia makes it clear why the drive is worth it. The facility features individual indoor/outdoor runs, giving each dog their own dedicated space with access to fresh air and daylight. Climate control runs year-round, with heated floors adding an extra layer of comfort during Western New York winters. At night, soft music and low lighting keep dogs relaxed.

The kennel runs are designed so dogs can see their surroundings and remain aware of the activity around them. This kind of sensory engagement makes a big difference for dogs who are social or stimulus-driven, keeping them mentally active rather than shut off in an isolated space.

Owned by Someone Who Has Made Animals a Career

Bobby Vetere, the owner of Evergreen Kennels, is not simply a dog enthusiast who decided to open a kennel. He is a former Monroe County Sheriff's K-9 Deputy with a professional career built around training, handling, and caring for dogs at the highest level. He holds canine first aid certification from the Veterinary Tactical Group and completed a Tactical Canine Casualty Care course in Virginia.

His wife Dawn co-owns and operates the business alongside him. Together, they've created a culture at Evergreen where every staff member is selected based on their genuine love and knowledge of animals. When you drop your dog off here, the people taking care of them are not just doing a job.

Services That Go Beyond Basic Boarding

Evergreen Kennels in Batavia is not just a place to park your dog. It's a full-service pet care facility. In addition to overnight boarding, the kennel offers dog daycare, bath and brush services, 1-on-1 outdoor playtime sessions, obedience training, and scent work training.

For Buffalo pet owners who want to come back from a trip to a dog who's not only been well cared for but has learned something new or had a bath, Evergreen can make all of that happen in a single stay.
