Dog Boarding in Rochester, NY: What to Expect at Evergreen Kennels in Churchville

Published August 6th, 2026 by Unknown

If you live in Rochester or the surrounding towns and you need someone to watch your dog while you travel, work long hours, or deal with a family emergency, you probably have a long list of questions. Where will my dog sleep? Who will feed her? Will she get outside? Will anyone actually pay attention to her?

Those are exactly the right questions to ask. Here is an honest look at what a stay at Evergreen Kennels in Churchville looks like, from the moment you pull into the driveway to the moment your dog comes bounding back to you.

Close to Rochester, Without the City Noise

Our Churchville kennel sits at 1500 Kendall Rd, just minutes from I-490 and the Thruway and about 15 minutes from downtown Rochester. That makes drop-off easy whether you are coming from the city or from nearby towns like Chili, Riga, Bergen, Spencerport, Ogden, and Gates.

You can read more about why so many city dog owners choose us on our dog boarding near Rochester, NY page.

A Family Business with Real Dog Experience

Evergreen Kennels is family owned and operated by Bobby and Dawn Vetere, and we have been caring for pets across Western New York for more than 35 years. Bobby is a former Monroe County Sheriff's K-9 Deputy who spent years training and handling police K-9s. He is certified in canine first aid by the Veterinary Tactical Group and holds a certificate in Tactical Canine Casualty Care.

That background shapes how we run things. We pay close attention to dog body language, we notice when something seems off, and our staff are genuine animal lovers who care about each dog as an individual, not a number on a clipboard.

Where Your Dog Will Stay

Every dog at our Churchville dog boarding facility gets an individual indoor/outdoor run. That means your dog can step outside for fresh air and sunshine and come back in to rest. A few other details our guests appreciate:

  • Buildings are heated and air conditioned, so Western New York weather is not a problem.
  • Heated floors keep things cozy during our long winters.
  • Night lights and music help dogs settle in after dark.
  • Open runs let dogs see what is going on around them, which many dogs find reassuring.

If you have more than one dog, dogs from the same home can share a kennel as long as they are able to eat together.

Meals on Your Dog's Schedule

We use an individual feeding program with your dog's own food. Dogs are fed twice a day, and we do our best to keep to the schedule your dog is used to at home. Sticking with the same food and routine is one of the simplest ways to avoid upset stomachs and help a dog feel at home.

Please bring enough food for the full stay in a plastic container labeled with your dog's name. We have a refrigerator for anything that needs to stay cold. If you would rather we provide food, it is $2.50 per day.

Planning a trip out of Rochester? Call our Churchville kennel at (585) 293-7211 or visit evergreenkennels.com/contact to reserve your dog's run.

One-on-One Playtime

If your dog loves to run, you can request 1-on-1 playtime. These are 15-minute sessions in our large outdoor play yards with a kennel attendant right there with your dog. Your dog does not play with other people's dogs, so there is no worry about rough play or a personality clash. It is simply your dog, an attendant, and room to stretch their legs.

You can also add a bath and brush-out to any boarding stay so your dog comes home fresh. Pricing is based on weight, so give us a call for details. See everything we offer on our services page.

What to Have Ready Before You Arrive

  • Vaccines: Rabies, Distemper, and Kennel Cough. Please email records before arrival to evergreenkennelsboarding@gmail.com.
  • Food: Enough for the whole stay, labeled with your dog's name.
  • Medications: Oral medications only, for non-contagious conditions, pre-loaded in a pill box labeled with the days of the week and AM/PM. We can provide one for a fee. We cannot give injectable medications, including insulin, and we do not force pills.
  • Bedding: Welcome, as long as it is machine washable. Dogs may chew it, so leave favorite toys and anything irreplaceable at home.

Our FAQ page covers more of the details.

Drop-Off, Pickup, and Payment

Hours are Monday through Friday 9 AM to 4 PM, Saturday 9 AM to 11 AM, and Sunday 3 PM to 5 PM. If you pick up on a weekday by 11 AM, there is no boarding fee for that day.
